My awesome Gelaskin. XD

Posted on 08 April 2010 by Patrick

Hey everyone! As one of the perks of being part of YouMedia, you can use your points to purchase several items. After gaining a good amount of points, I redeemed them for a Gelaskin laptop cover.

Without the loads of designs (also being able to upload your own) from gelaskin, the design I chose was “Cohabitations” by Philip Straub (image can be found here). The awesome thing about gelaskins, besides “pimping out your gadget”, is the UV protection that is added as well. Although it may be a bit expensive, it is an investment worth doing.

Gelaskins are also available for your mobile devices such as Ipods and PSPs.

Museum of Science and Industry

Posted on 05 April 2010 by Patrick

Robot battles, “Old town”, and the “Idea Factory”, those concepts can pretty much sum up my day at the Museum of Science and Industry in Hyde Park, Chicago.

Are you serious? A “Dirty Dancing” PC Game?

Posted on 28 January 2010 by Patrick

I was at the local Gamestop, and I was browsing the PC Games section and much to my surprise, I found a “Dirty Dancing” PC Game. Let me correct my mistake, I found THREE “Dirty Dancing” PC Games. I wonder who would be the adult (assuming kids would avoid this) who would buy this for themselves or their sons & daughters.

What was “Dirty Dancing”? (wikipedia)

Dirty Dancing is a 1987 romantic film made in the United States. Written by Eleanor Bergstein and directed by Emile Ardolino, the film features Patrick Swayze, Jennifer Grey, Cynthia Rhodes, and Jerry Orbach. The story is a coming of age drama that documents a teenaged woman’s rebellion against her father by starting a relationship with a dance instructor during a family summer vacation.

If your parents offer you a video game, and they are big fans of Patrick Swayze and his films, I’d avoid the offer, and just get what is on STEAM.

Final Fantasy VII Grammatical Error

Posted on 20 December 2009 by Patrick

(sorry for the bad quality) – So I was playing Final Fantasy VII on my PSP, and right when (SPOILER ALERT ——————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————-) Aeris is killed by Sephiroth, the boss battle, and the monologue, the screen above appeared with the world “beacause” instead of “because”. It may have been a translation error (from Japan to United States), or it could be a whole new conspiracy! I know there must be hundreds of grammatical errors in video games (Gametrailers has a video dedicated to this), but if find an interesting one, let me know

The official NBC Store in 30Rock (Rockefeller Center) had a shirt which I would have bought, but it was too expensive anyway.

Nintendo World Store (New York City)

Posted on 17 July 2009 by Patrick

While I was visiting New York City, I got the chance to go to the Nintendo World Store in Rockefeller Center. I was astounded by the mini-museum they had of each Nintendo console.

Background Information (from Wikipedia):

Nintendo World Store, located in New York City at Rockefeller Center, is Nintendo‘s flagship specialty store.

The store sells all sorts of Nintendo video games and merchandise, including apparel, hardware, and accessories that are exclusive to the store like Japanese Mario character plushies. It replaced the Pokémon Center that originally stood in the building, which has since been moved to a subsection of the store. The store features the Nintendo DS Lite Circle and Multiplayer Wall, which use wireless technology to link up fellow gamers

Randolph Street Market Festival

Posted on 17 July 2009 by Patrick

A few months ago, I got the chance to visit to the Randolpoh Street Market Festival. From old civil war antiques to old radios, there was something for everyone.

For a bit a background information (from Chicago Metromix):

Randolph and Ada Streets
  • Neighborhood: West Loop
  • 1350 W. Randolph St.
  • Chicago, IL 60607
  • The sixth annual European-style indoor/outdoor fair showcases antiques and vintage collectibles from more than 200 dealers along Randolph Street, between Ada Street and Ogden Avenue. Themed mini-markets boast rare vinyl recordings, global goods and fancy foods such as truffles, salsa and olive oils. Local crafts, vintage Schwinn bicycles from the ’60s and ’70s are also on sale. Get free entry for the last two hours of the market each month with the “See for Free” coupon on the market’s website.”
